Sheesh, that article makes me glad none of my 4,000,000 partners has been an artist!
I must now snark that "sexual success" is interpreted only as "number of sexual partners."
And they didn't ask questions about <18, either. So many interesting variables...
How would you interpret it?
I'd say that, as a general principle, "success" is only meaningful in the context of someone's set of goals.

So, for one person, "sexual success" might mean finding a spouse and having lots of kids. For another, it might mean lots of partners. For another, it might mean total abstinence. For another, it might mean seducing Morrissey.

I'd say "sexual success" would mean "getting the kind of sexual results you want."
Perhaps this study was done by gametes (or their political sympathizers). In fact, this study would suggest that they have an incentive to make us more creative over time.
So being a little insane is good for you, and global warming is bringing cold temperatures to Northern Europe.

joy...

good on the first, not so good on the second.
On the other hand, the second may lead to the first, so that's good for you.

I wonder if the conclusions of the first apply in post-apocalyptic wasteland environments.
Well, what else do you have to do through near-constant darkness and massively cold winters... Huddled up with one (or a few) willing body/ies doesn't sound like a bad plan.

I think it depends on the type of post-apocalyptic wasteland environment. The desert kind (mad max), or the winter type (12 monkeys). Of course, that might change from season to season, too.
I think I have a counterexample to that first article. :P
I think clearly the first is MUCH more important than the second.

blah blah Europe blah blah Freezing blahblah dead.

Now, about being creative.....
